NEW MOON ON MONDAY ASTROLOGY
HOROSCOPES FOR DECEMBER 22-28 2008
**If you know your Rising and Moon signs, read for those as well!**
GENERAL FORECAST
It’s the time of the season. Yesterday’s Winter Solstice brought the Sun into Capricorn to join Mercury, Jupiter and Pluto and by the end of this week Mars and the Moon will be there as well. Capricorn is an Earth sign that’s all about ambition and forging ahead – doing whatever it takes to reach the top of our mountains. This is the kind of energy that will be dominating the next few weeks. Saturn, the planet that rules Capricorn, will be turning Retrograde next week in Virgo, another Earth sign and staying that way for the next five months. Planets going Retrograde are all about revisiting past situations and getting second (and third!) chances to get something right. With Saturn involved, it will be all about establishing and re-establishing our foundation. Mercury, the planet that represents communication, will also be turning Retrograde in the next two weeks and revisiting territory in Capricorn – time to get our shit together!
On a lighter note, Venus the Grace and Neptune, the planet that represents our imagination and unconscious, among other things, will be hooking up this weekend in Aquarius, an Air sign that’s a lot about humanitarianism and what we can do to help all the people around us. This, in conjunction with Saturday’s New Moon in neighboring Capricorn, will be putting a more compassionate spin on the holidays. There’s sure to be gold wherever you look for it! Be Well.
ARIES
It’s all about priorities. Trying to do too many things at once will only scatter your energies. Use the New Moon in Capricorn to make some resolutions about where you’d like to be a year from now, and what you need to do to get there. Some hints come this weekend as your Mars ruler makes his first contact with Pluto in Capricorn, a sign that’s all about plowing through and doing the right thing. You’re more than capable of being responsible while staying true to your sense of spontaneity and this is the week you get a chance to prove that to yourself.
TAURUS
Keep your eyes on the real prize. Something very strong is guiding you toward your true potential this week: you have support from Mercury (Communication) and Saturn (Foundation) in fellow Earth signs, and you get your gumption back this weekend when Mars (Energy) joins the other planets in Capricorn. Look for things and people that you hope will be around for many years to come – that’s where you should be focusing. Your Venus ruler moves into a friendly Water sign next week: by then things get better with the love stuff.
GEMINI
The next few weeks are all about organizing your most out-there thoughts. Your Mercury ruler making supportive moves toward both Saturn and the planet Uranus gives you the impetus to do just that, and the hookup between Venus and Neptune in a fellow Air sign throws even more fuel on your already hyperactive imagination. Next week Mercury will join Neptune in Aquarius, bringing clarity as well as creativity. Mars leaving Sagittarius, your opposite sign, helps calm your nerves and whatever you’ve been getting all worked up about. Happy Holidays!
CANCER
Mars joining a team of planets, all in your opposite sign could be bringing some cold hard reality, and you’re trying to escape by getting lost in your own imagination. But Saturday’s New Moon in Capricorn brings the perfect chance to use your sensitivity toward the good of others: you have the power to bring all sorts of comfort to those around you this Christmas, and doing so will only help to heal yourself. Chatty Mercury makes contact with the planet Uranus in a fellow Water sign: expect one of these people to be someone completely unexpected.
LEO
Your Sun Ruler hooked up with powerful Pluto overnight, bringing the beginnings of a brand new, very important chapter. Use this week to do whatever you must to help get it started. People who’ve been waiting to hear from you will be so glad you did. The merger between Venus and Neptune in your opposite sign has you looking for attention in all the wrong places. Turn the focus back to yourself and you’ll be able to find a fresh start. The Moon in a fellow Fire sign over the holiday means nothing but the best of times. Have fun!
VIRGO
This week your world won’t get turned upside down. With more and more planets in a fellow Earth sign you’re having an easier time losing the chaos and getting things back to normal again. The New Moon in Capricorn helps you to see all the ways you’ve begun to use your courage to push past limits that have been holding you back for years. You’ll have even more chances to prove this starting next week when Saturn turns Retrograde for five months at the height of your sign.
LIBRA
Keep your balance. The more you let small problems trip you up, the more they can snowball and steal your self-confidence. This week’s New Moon in a challenging sign is all about proving how well you’re able to get it all done. The test is in making sure you know this for yourself. This will be a theme for you until mid-Spring, so don’t be too hard on yourself, and by all means don’t try to be perfect. Your Venus ruler hooks up with Neptune, the planet that rules our imagination. This happens in Aquarius, a fellow Air sign, and can only mean a prettier spin on all your holiday plans. The best part is, you totally deserve it.
SCORPIO
Pluto, the planet that rules you, is visited by both the Sun and Mars this week, bringing another turn in the spotlight. Be creative: you’re trying to get the attention of someone specific but it’s crucial that it be the absolute best kind of attention. You’re scared of speaking up for fear of saying the wrong thing but it’s important to jump in anyway. Use your words. By next week, you’ll be glad you did. All New Moons are perfect for beginnings and this one is likely the beginning of a very important relationship.
SAGITTARIUS
No strings attached. Mars is the last of the planets to leave your sign for Capricorn at the end of this week. You’re free to wander about, just the way you like it. The Moon in your sign over the holiday brings simpatico vibes from all the people you’re celebrating with, and the merger between Venus and Neptune in friendly Aquarius is even more about the best of times. Saturn turning Retrograde from a challenging place next Wednesday could bring the need to revisit some heavy responsibilities. Have as much fun as you can right now.
CAPRICORN
With a whole team of planets ganging up in your sign, you’re feeling the weight of the world. Use the energy to keep being productive, or it can easily turn into fear. Try not to be too conservative with your resources, or your affection. The New Moon in your sign is pushing you to see beyond people’s actions to their true motives, and this is increasing your compassion a thousand percent. Your Saturn ruler is about to turn Retrograde in Virgo, a fellow Earth sign, for the next five months. By next Summer you’ll be seeing clearly what this is all for.
AQUARIUS
What you’re going through right now is all about teaching you something you’ll very much use in the New Year. As soon as next month you’ll be getting to bigger places and taking things to levels that right now you’re only dreaming about. The hookup between Venus and Neptune in your sign is bringing a shiny new circumstance that will be growing strong until September of 2009. Remember what’s going on right now so you can reference it next fall. This week you’re able to formulate the very best kind of plans. Cheers to your big ideas.
PISCES
Neptune, the planet that rules you, merges with the grace of Venus just as the Moon turns New in a friendly sign, and this puts a better spin on the entire situation. Mercury sends you good vibes on Christmas Eve, helping you turn any connections you’ve been making into important bridges to further opportunity. The only danger this is in being too complacent. Things are going so right you’re hesitating to make any new moves, but this week, that’s exactly what you should be doing. Even the tiniest baby step is about to take you to way better places.
